  • Fun with ‘the squid’

I thought I would post a few photos taken by various family members staying in the villa of a toy squid kindly left by a previous guest.

I think its fair to say ‘the squid’ had a great time and used all the villa facilities and I hope you enjoy our little picture story as much as everyone in the villa had making it!

Just in case anyone want to know where they can get their own squid we saw them in Seaworld as a prize for the basketball game, someone is obviously a much better shot than I am!

Please feel free to send us any photos of your stuffed toys enjoying the villas facilities!

  • Additional TV Channels for UK football

We have just returned from another trip to the villa!

While we were there we upgraded the TV package to be able to watch some UK premier league football matches which are broadcast on the NBC Sports Network channel.

As a result we now have the standard resort channels, the HBO movie channels and the new Digimax package which adds a further 71 channels.

The new channels in the digimax package are:

If you are visiting the villa we hope you enjoy the parks, the pool and the sun, but when its time to relax inside the additional channels should give you more choice on the tv.

  • Discovery Cove Dolphin Encounters – Booked!

We have just booked a dolphin encounter at Discovery Cove for our next trip!

Some of our elder nieces have already done the dolphin swim ,  but three of the younger ones are finally getting to do it ! Don’t know who is more excited us or them!!

Us older ones are going to take advantage of the beach, free breakfast and lunch and snacks and drinks (and maybe even a sneaky alcoholic one!)

With the Discovery Cove Dolphin Encounters you get included in the price 14 day unlimited access to both SeaWorld and Aquatica, but for just around $20 more, you get Busch Gardens in Tampa thrown in too!  Thats the majority of our park tickets taken care of in one shot!

We will post back after we have returned from what is hopefully going to be a fantastic experience!

Here is are a couple of links to other blog posts that might be of interest:

  • Spirit of the Swamp Orlando Airboats – Booked!!

Last time we were at the villa we tried to book an orlando airboat ride here but left it too late!

We have been to Boggy Creek airboat rides before, however this time wanted to have an airboat to ourselves, just for our party and this is exactly what these guys offer.

So we have been organised and booked ahead for our upcoming trip – Looking forward to seeing you Captain Jack! and will post photos and a review when we get back!

Here is a link to the Spirit of the Swamp website where they have more details of the airboat rides and other experiences they offer:

  • Falcon’s Fury coming to Busch Gardens Tampa in 2014

Just when you thought rides could not get any more scary, someone thinks of another twist!

In spring 2014, Busch Gardens Tampa is taking guests’ experiences to new heights with Falcon’s Fury, the first drop tower of its kind in the world, mimicking the dive speeds of the fastest animal on earth.

    Falcons Fury at Busch Gardens

Falcon’s Fury will stand at 335 feet (102metres) and take riders plunging 60 mph straight down. At the ride’s highest point Busch Gardens has added an element of surprise. Like its bird of prey namesake, riders will pivot 90 degrees in midair to a face-down dive position. An instant later they’ll plunge 60 mph at 3.5 Gs straight down with speed and power like they’ve never experienced before.

Located in the Timbuktu area of Busch Gardens, Falcon’s Fury will be visible from any location in the park and even across the Tampa Bay area.

So to recap,  its all the way to the top, rotate to face down then a plunge to the earth at 60mph.

    Yikes!!!

  • Take to the air with Fantasy of Flight

If you are interested in planes, or have ever though about taking to the air while on vacation in Orlando, why not have a look at the Fantasy of Flight attraction.

We have been a couple of times, and its a nice museum.  Its not huge, so I would allow a few hours (and not a full day!), but if you are interested in aviation they have some classic and well maintained US planes in their hangers.

You can also take to the air in a bi-plane if that floats your boat!

As usual with most of the smaller Orlando attractions, a quick Google search before you go for any available discount vouchers never hurts, or if you have more time follow them on Twitter or Facebook to keep up with the latest news and events.

  • Walt Disney World Restaurant Menus

If you are planning to eat in the Disney Parks, the DIBB forum have a section that lists all the menus for the restaurants found in Disney,  from the bars by the pool right through to the top restaurants.

You can see the list of the restaurants, and the mens by following the link below:

Walt Disney World Dining Menus – theDIBB.

Even if you are staying ‘off site’,  for example in a luxury villa on the Bellavida Resort 🙂  you can still visit the restaurants in the Disney hotels and attractions.   When parking in the hotels the driver will be asked for ID,  and if you are visiting the Polynesian or Grand Floridian resorts they will give you a tag to put in your windscreen to limit the parking time (usually a couple of hours).

One of our favourites is to visit the Wilderness Lodge,  have a quick drink down near the pool then hire a boat and go out on the Disney lake,  its great fun and something thats fun to do on a ‘non park’ day.

  • Transformers: The Ride – 3D to open in Universal Studios this summer

Transformers @ UniversalPossibly the worst kept secret in Orlando, Universal have officially announced the Transformers ride ‘TRANSFORMERS: The Ride – 3D’ will be coming to Universal Studios in Orlando this summer.

The official countdown to the mystery new ride was called ‘transformers’ in the website code so that gave it away a while back, but its good to have the official confirmation and some ride details.

    Here is the ride description…

Embark on a daring adventure that redefines thrill rides. Transformers: The Ride-3D is an ultra-immersive sensory experience that puts you on the front lines of an intergalactic war between the Autobots and Decepticons. Fusing ground-breaking HD 3D media and Flight Simulation technology, this epic ride will make you lose sight of the difference between fiction and reality.

Although the ride does look quite similar to the Spiderman ride, it should still be very good and worth a try!

Its also worth mentioning this attraction is also in the Studios park, and not the Islands of Adventure.

  • Speak Peek at A Pirates Adventure at the Magic Kingdom Park, Orlando

Walt Disney Imagineering have just shared a speak peek at A Pirates Adventure at the Magic Kingdom Park, Orlando.

With a bit of luck, the video should appear below (bear with me if it does not as this is only the second time ive posted a video into the blog!)

In the video, Imagineers Jonathan Ackley and Matt Beiler offer up a look at a few of the quest’s cool special effects. It looks good, definitely something worth adding to your ‘to-do’ list.
